A Coventry-based robotics manufacturer, Expert Technologies Group, has secured a multimillion-euro contract in Spain, backed by €1.4 million in financing. The deal sees the company partnering with Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze (SEBN) Spain, a global leader in automotive parts, to deliver advanced automation solutions for electric vehicle production.
Expert Technologies Group specialises in designing and building robotic assembly systems, tools, and specialised machinery, supporting automation across industries. Under the new contract, the firm will collaborate with SEBN to develop two automated auxiliary harness assembly lines for electric vehicles.
This contract marks Expert Technologies' first major project in Spain since Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic. The company accessed €1.4 million in working capital from NatWest, facilitated by support from UK Export Finance (UKEF), enabling the deal and sustaining around ten jobs.
Angelo Luciano, CEO of Expert Technologies, expressed optimism about the partnership:
"The support from UK Export Finance enabled us to secure this project with SEBN, a new client for us. We look forward to building a long-term relationship and hope this success will lead to more projects across Europe."
This contract signals Expert Technologies' return to the European market and highlights its ongoing commitment to supporting automation in the automotive sector.

The project was made possible by a €1.4 million financing package from NatWest, facilitated by UK Export Finance (UKEF). This financial backing supports the company’s working capital needs, ensuring smooth delivery of the contract and sustaining up to 10 jobs within the group.
Angelo Luciano, CEO of Expert Technologies, expressed optimism about this expansion, saying,
“The support from UK Export Finance enabled us to secure this project with SEBN, a new customer for us. We hope this marks the beginning of more projects across mainland Europe."
Fiona Begley, Export Finance Manager for UKEF, highlighted the significance of the deal, noting that it reinforces the Midlands' position as a hub of manufacturing excellence.

Duncan Ruffle, Trade Finance Director at NatWest, praised the collaboration, saying,

This latest venture builds on the company's earlier success, with additional backing from Innovate UK to promote decarbonisation in the automotive sector.
